TAMIYA MICROCOMPUTER ROBOT (WHEELED)

The Tamiya Programming Construction series aims to cater to the STEM market for educational products. This latest  addition  to  the  series  combines  our  model  engineering  expertise  with  the  BBC  micro:bit  microcomputer to  make  a  wheeled  robot  that  uses  an  ultrasonic  sensor  and  motor  driver  circuit.  It  will  provide  a  fascinating entry  to  the  world  of  coding,  which  is  essentially  open-ended  thanks  to  the  adaptability  of  the  global  hit  BBC micro:bit.

About the Model
This is an assembly kit creating a microcomputer-controlled robot. Length: 185mm, width: 138mm, height: 162mm.
A pre-installed program lets the robot move ahead under its own control, with arms and head moving.
When the ultrasonic sensor identifies an obstacle ahead, it transmits that information to the BBC micro:bit, which uses a pre-installed program to give the included Type 130 motors commands to avoid the obstacle.
Programs are available on the Tamiya homepage to use another BBC micro:bit (sold separately) as a remote control, and allow other functions. Click here to visit an information page on our homepage.
The Tamiya homepage features an extensive section giving advice on the use of the BBC micro:bit. It can be programmed using free online coding software compatible with visual programming (computer, internet connection and micro USB cable are required).
Please  note  that  while  the  external  design  of  the  robot  is  the  same  as  Item  70232,  it  does  not  run  on  or include chain sections.
Requires two separately sold R6/AA/UM3 batteries.
